The art of hijacking must be learnt from the Indian National Congress. It has mastered it like no other party. Firstly it has been successful in portraying that it was the party which fought for India’s Independence. Secondly and most important is that it has been successful in saying that Congress always supported Dr B R Ambedkar.
Now let us go through some of the facts and realize how Dr B R Ambedkar was treated by Nehru led Congress.
- Nehru prevented Ambedkar from entering Lok Sabha
In 1952, Ambedkar contested first the Lok Sabha election from Bombay North and lost to Congress candidate Naryan Kajrolkar. In recent elections, we can see the picture of B R Ambedkar in Congress campaigns. But when Ambedkar was alive, it was seen that he will win no elections. Nehru wasn’t even willing to induct Ambedkar into the cabinet. If Congress was with Dalits, then why didn’t it issue ticket to Ambedkar from the Congress party?
- Ambedkar had opposed Article 370 of the Indian constitution which gives special status to the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
This was said by B R Ambedkar to Shiek Abdullah on Article 370.
“You wish India should protect your borders, she should build roads in your area, she should supply you food grains, and Kashmir should get equal status as India. But Government of India should have only limited powers and Indian people should have no rights in Kashmir. To give consent to this proposal would be a treacherous thing against the interests of India and I, as the Law Minister of India, will never do it.
Presently India is facing severe problems due to Kashmir dispute, both politically and security wise too. Sole reason for this was Nehru. If Congress respected Ambedkar’s opinion then why did they go against his will?
- Ambedkar stood for Sanskrit as the official language of India.
A news item from ‘The Sunday Hindustan Standard’ dated 11 September, 1949, reported “India’s law minister, Dr Ambedkar, is among those who have sponsored Sanskrit as the official language of the Indian Union.” Questioned about this move, Dr Ambedkar told a PTI correspondent that evening, “What is wrong with Sanskrit?”
But now we have seen how Congress opposes even the introduction of Sanskrit in school textbooks.
- Bhimrao’s second wife was a Hindu Brahmin
This proves that Ambedkar was never against Hindu religion. He opposed only the regressive practises. But Congress tried to project that he was against Hindu religion. Till date Congress is systematically separating the Dalits from Hinduism.
- Ambedkar’s strong views on Muslim society’s evils and Christianity
Ambedkar was approached by many Christian missionaries and Muslim leaders and offered him huge financial offers to get him and the Dalits converted. But he denied it saying that he don’t want to accept a religion that is not Indian. So he meant that Islam and Christianity is Alien to India. He clearly stated that all Mughals and Islamic invaders were butchers. He believed that Hindu-Muslim tension in India is due to Jihadi psyche of worshipping invaders.
Ambedkar was a major challenge for religious conversion to Islam and Christian missionary. To stop this conversion, he tried to divert all Dalits into peaceful Buddhism. Otherwise by this time all Dalits would have been converted into Islam or Christianity. Ambedkar also criticised Islamic practice in South Asia and condemned child marriage and the mistreatment of women in Muslim society.
He was close with hardcore Hindu leaders like Swami Shraddhanand and Veer Savarkar.
Congress and its specialisation in twisting the historical facts:
So by reading all these, one thing is clear that Nehru led Congress never respected Dr B R Ambedkar. Congress used all its force to defeat Ambedkar in his first election. So what moral rights does Congress have to use him in their political campaigns?
Congress always blames BJP of ill-treating the Dalits. But how did Congress treat Ambedkar? Nehru’s hate for Ambedkar was openly displayed many a times yet Congress act as if it has treated Ambedkar like a god.
Truth is known to some but is hidden from many. If harmony between Dalits and the Hindu community should increase, then this untold fact should come out. That’s the only way to put an end to caste rivalry which was created by the Congress.
