In a massive victory for the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, the forces have gunned down six terrorists including a close aide of Zakir Musa, one of the most wanted terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir in an encounter in Pulwama district.
According to reports the forces came into action after receiving input from the intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the region.
The forces launched a cordon and search operation in Arompora village in Awantipura area of the South Kashmir district in the morning. As the forces were carrying out the search operation the terrorists fired at the forces triggering the encounter
The killed terrorists have been identified as Soliha Akhoon, Faisal, Nadeem Sofi, Raseeq Mir, Rouf and Umar. The group was part of the Zakir Musa faction operating in Kashmir. Soliha Akhoon, also known as Rehaan Khan was the deputy chief of Zakir Musa’s group Ansar Ghazwat-ul Hind, which has links with Al-Qaeda
Zakir Moosa is a former Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, and his Ansar Ghazwat-ul Hind is said to also have links to Jaish-e-Mohammed. He is one of the most wanted terrorists who are currently operating in the Kashmir valley.
In November, Punjab was put on high alert after he was spotted near Amritsar. Posters of Zakir Moosa were put up across the state following inputs that he along with seven members of the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed were believed to be sighted in Ferozepur.
Earlier that month, the Punjab Police arrested two students associated with his terrorist organisation in connection with Maqsudan Police Station hand-grenade blasts case of September 14.
The police have recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site. A joint team of the Indian Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group and the Central Reserve Police Force has chalked out this operation and made it successful
No collateral damage had been witnessed during the all out attack on terrorists. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation in the matter. It has requested the citizens not to venture inside the encounter zone till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all explosives. Following the encounter train services between Banihal and Srinagar have been suspended and internet services have also been banned in South Kashmir.
If we are sitting today safe at our homes this is only due to our brave hearts who are battling with terrorists day and night at borders. They have been given free hand by the Modi Government which has ensured that the evil intentions of the terrorists will not affect us in anyway
