Northeast India has had its own share of crisis.The states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim) were deprived of development ever since the Indian independence.
Due to the sheer negligence(over petty politics), Northeast was always neglected, mocked for their cultural practices. However the time has changed. Northeast India is finally getting its share of happiness and the right to live without having to compromise with their identity.
Narendra Modi’s capability of choosing the right leader brought Northeast India into the spotlight which they rightly deserve.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, a talented politician was hand-picked by Modi government. He is promoting development thus giving the rightful justice to the people of Northeast India.
How Northeast is changing for the better and reconnecting to India.
1.Grass root connection via Railway: Railway has always been a key part in bringing development and changes. Northeast was deceived of this development. To reconnect and boost tourism, the capital cities of Sikkhim,Mizoram and Nagaland are to be connected to rail network by 2022.
2.Construction of new airport: A proposal to build a new airport at ‘Holongi’ in Arunachal Pradesh is given a green signal. It is proposed to be completed by 2022.
3.Northeast Gas grid project: The government of India has sanctioned Gas grid project for the people of Northeast.
4.Bodo peace accord: Pending demands of the Bodo community was brought to a positive end on 27th January 2020. The peace accord was signed between All Bodo Student Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and the Assam government.
Rs.1500 crore package was announced by PM Modi under Bodo peace accord to carry out development work in the region. It projects at bringing employment opportunities and boost infrastructure.
5.Boost of infrastructure: AIIMS is under construction in Guwahati, Bio-refinery is being built at Numaligarh and a sports university in Manipur is in progress.
