The 9 PM slot on TV was something news buffs always looked forward to. The booming voice of Arnab Goswami and his debates pushed Times Now way ahead of others in terms of Television Rating Points (TRPs). Just like the quietness that follows Diwali fireworks, news comes in that Times Now is all set to lose its voice. In what could easily be the ‘dhamaka news of 2016’, reports have been pouring in about Arnab Goswami quitting Times Now. Employees of the media house said that the Editor-in-chief has put in his papers and is all set to move out.
Face of prime time news
Arnab Goswami has been the face of prime time news for a few years now. While it would be an exaggeration to call him pro or anti-establishment, he at least ensured that his personal views did not interfere with the debates he conducted. He hasn’t been openly biased and nor does he take sides unlike a Barkha Dutt or Rajdeep Sardesai. English news channels do seem to have an aversion for BJP in general and for PM Modi in particular. In such a scenario, someone who came across as fair and just was bound to capture the attention of the audience. That is exactly what made Mr. Goswami the most popular prime time news anchor.
Social media is a fun place and breaking news such as this would hardly go unnoticed. From funny to witty, Twitter was abuzz with a wide variety of tweets. Here are a few interesting ones.
Times Now Without Arnab Is Like Team India Without Virat Kohli

It is not yet clear what Arnab will be doing in the future. Some are of the opinion that he may start his own channel. Whether or not he does that one thing is certain, Arnab Goswami has made enough name and reputation for himself which has piqued the interest of the viewers. They are constantly watching his moves and taking an interest in him. Rival media persons may not admit it but surely they are also keeping a close eye on the developements that are taking place.
As they say ‘one may love him or hate him but one can certainly not ignore him’. Until Arnab makes his next move the nation must take solace in the fact that he would be back in whatever capacity he can.
