In a ghastly suicide attack, the ISIS has targeted minorities in Afghanistan on Sunday killing 19 people mostly of the Sikh community. The attack took place in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad. According to police, the group was travelling in a vehicle to meet President Ashraf Ghani, who is visiting Nangarhar province, when the bomber struck. The bomber targeted the Sikh man who had planned to contest October’s parliamentary elections.
According to reports, the ISIS made the attack targeting the minority community of Sikh and Hindus with the help of Pakistan ISI and Taliban. The Pakistan ISI has reportedly started ethnic cleansing in Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan in a systematic way targeting the minority community.
The sad part is every year hundreds of innocents are getting killed in these countries but the United Nation Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) is busy giving lectures to India on Kashmir. The UNHRC recently gave a report on Kashmir saying that India was involved in atrocities against Kashmiris and violated human rights. The report brazenly called Jammu Kashmir as Azad Jammu Kashmir and violated the Indian territory norms.
The 49-page report said that “The quantity and quality of information available on Indian-Administered Kashmir contrasts significantly to Pakistan-Administered Kashmir. Despite challenges, NGOs, human rights defenders and journalists are able to operate in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, generating documentation on the ongoing human rights violations there. Restrictions on the freedoms of expression, opinion, peaceful assembly and association in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have limited the ability of observers, including OHCHR, to assess the human rights situation there. Nevertheless, OHCHR used the information that is available to address the human rights violations occurring in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.”
They blamed Indian Army for targeting terrorists while they conveniently forgot about the atrocities against minorities in Pakistan and terror activities in Kashmir. India had strongly rejected the UN report and gave a befitting reply saying that the UNHRC was not based on facts. India said that “The report violates India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. Pakistan is in the illegal and forcible occupation of a part of the Indian state through aggression”.
Just a few days after the report was published, the UN Human Rights Commissioner had posted pics along with the ISI lobby of Pakistan which showed the real intention of UNHRC. The High commissioner of UNHRC had all the time to prepare a 49 page report based on assumptions and remote monitoring to blame India for killing terrorists who are destroying the peace in the Kashmir valley, but have no time to condemn and take firm action against the ISI and terror groups who are killing minorities in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
This is not the first time that ISI and terror groups have attacked minorities with an ill intention of ethnic cleansing. This same model was used in Kashmir 30 years back to chase away Kashmiri Pandits from the valley.
This hypocrisy of the UN is a clear example to show how biased the UNHRC is and their reports are aimed at targeting India and particular community and project them as intolerant and malign the image of India in the global platform.
