Sadhvi Pragya was granted bail on Tuesday by the Bombay High Court. She was one of the key accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts. She was in jail for the past 8 years. Out on bail, sadhvi alleged that she was falsely incriminated in the blasts to endorse ex Home Minister P Chidambaram’s ‘saffron terrorism’ apparition. Sadhvi was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on Tuesday. She is presently undergoing treatment for cancer at the Khushilal Ayurvedic Hospital, Bhopal.
The Bombay High Court granted bail to her holding prima facie no case was made against her. Sadhvi claimed that she was tortured severely by the Mumbai ATS. Adressing mediapersons, Sadhvi said that she was a subject to physical & mental torture by the Anti-Terrorism Squad. She added: “I Am 100% innocent. I was falsely implicated by the Congress Government & have spent 9 years in ordeal for no crime.”
The Bombay High court has asked her to provide cash surety of RS 5 Lakh & surrender her passport to the NIA (National Investigation Agency). She has been asked to report to the NIA as and when required. Hitting out at the Congress Government Sadhvi Pragya said that ‘saffron terrorism’ was a phrase coined by P Chidambaram & the Congress-led UPA Government.
Sadhvi was one of the key accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts & she claimed that this was a conspiracy against her. “The Congress government cooked up stories & scripted the phrase of saffron terrorism. Sadhvi also alleged that investigating agencies were not straightforward. She claimed that the NIA also belonged to the same category.
Sadhvi said that she was arrested by the ATS on October 10,2008 and was taken to Mumbai from Surat. “I was physically fit. I am a Sanyasi. Now I am dependent on others due to the severe torture inflicted on me by the ATS. Sadhvi made it clear that she would not be leaving the hospital without consulting the doctors as her condition was fragile.
Nine others who were convicted along with Sadhvi are still behind bars. Sadhvi said that the Congress Government had made all efforts to eliminate her, but it was only because of her will power that she had survived.
